Fortescue Falls
Fortescue Falls was stunning on Easter Sunday, a little busy given the holiday but also nice to see a Ranger keeping people safe, when they are too stupid to think for themselves like walking through the waterfall. It is a safe area when you are sensible, and the kids and us had a ball here.

Not that far down from the carport, mostly via a steel stairs. The rest of the way is large natural steps 4/5 difficulty. Still achievable for young kids with supervision. Fairly shallow pool with a nice waterfall. If you want a swim first, walk 200m down the track to Fern pool whoch is much deeper (April) and has a waterfall you can get behind.

A large waterfall and swimming pool accessible from the Fortescue Falls car park via a man-made series of metal steps down to the upper falls. The pool is accessible by walking down a series of rocky levels. You can also access Dales Gorge from the other side of the pool from the falls. The pools are very popular with visitors as a place for a cooling swim, photo opportunity and sun baking on the rocks. Best time to go is when the sun is shining down into the gorge.

Great place for swiming if you like cold water. Can get crowded. Metal stairs to bottom of falls and swimming hole. Short easy walk to Fern Pool.

Fortescue Falls
Very easy to get to relative to other gorges - just a long flight of stairs to walk down. This is one of the best gorges to swim in and we spent a lot of time here doing just that, even talking an inflatable toy with us for the kids to relax on. There is a lot of wildlife here, including bees, dragon flies, lizards and birds. The falls themselves are small but beautiful to sit in and let the water run over you. A must see if you are coming to the area.

Absolutely stunning. Make sure, if you are fit, to walk around the rim then down to the gorge until you get to the Falls. Then have a refreshing swim.

Many stairs lead down to the waterfall from the lookout above. They are okay to go down and up and that's coming from a pretty unfit 68 year old. Rest spots now and then and high handrails you can grab with both hands helped me. At the bottom of the stairs is a track to the Fern Pool. I forgot my hiking stick, but made do with a broken branch. Only about 500m and okay if you take your time. Definitely worth it to have a dip and swim over to the waterfall. There's a ladder to help you get back out. I didn't do the grade 4 hike down to the bottom of the gorge where the Fortescue Falls empty, but did the rim walk which was good.

Beautiful spot from above or below. The hike down is short & slightly challenging. The rocky path is really cool. Waterfall comes down from Fern Pool.
